Black Hills Bark Beetle
June 2012. Identification and removal of trees infested with Rocky Mountain Pine Beetle will reduce outbreaks and loss of timber and forested habitats in Weston County.
Devils Tower Conservation Easement
December 2011. Permanent conservation of nearly 7,500 acres of riparian areas, native grasslands, timber and irrigated ground around the base of Devils Tower National Monument near Hulett. Project provides habitat for deer, elk, turkey, Sharp-tailed grouse and other species, and will allow large agricultural operation to continue.
Inyan Kara Water II
June 2011. Rangeland improvements and water development to enhance habitat for antelope, deer, and grassland birds in Weston County.
Buffalo Creek
June 2010. Fencing and water development will be used to continue enhancement of riparian areas and woody draws in Campbell County.
Wild Horse Creek Oxbow
June 2010. More than one mile of historic stream will be restored through diversion of a channelized stream into historic meander lines and wetlands, creating habitat for songbirds, amphibians, native fish, and a variety of other species.
Gillette Fishing Lake
December 2009. This lake is located within the City of Gillette and provides countless hours of recreation and fishing, especially for young people. The project will develop a system of sediment removal and water flow that will enhance the fishery, and provide shoreline habitat for other species, particularly songbirds.
Stateline Fuels Reduction I
June 2009. Project will remove conifers and enhance deciduous trees, shrubs, and grasses on 6,000 acres of habitat for elk, deer, and turkey. This project may also open migration and habitat for bighorn sheep in this Black Hills environment.
Northeast Wyoming Wetlands
June 2008. This project will create 12 new wetland areas on private lands in Weston County, providing habitat for waterfowl, shore birds, wading birds, and adding livestock water to an arid landscape.
Northeast Wyoming Bird Rescue
June 2008. Construction of a flight barn for the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned eagles, hawks, owls, and other birds throughout northeastern Wyoming. This program will allow birds to regain strength and stamina so that they can be released back into their natural habitats.
Kara Community Pasture
June 2007. Water distribution system, grazing management, and wildlife water sources on Inyan Kara Grasslands. Project will benefit grassland birds, riparian habitats, pronghorn and mule deer.
Inyan Kara Water
December 2006. Project will use water from private lands to enhance intact native grasslands on federal and private lands, including development of small guzzlers to benefit Sage grouse, Sharptailed grouse, and grassland birds. Funding includes match from The Nature Conservancy Grassland Initiative, and Wyoming Wildlife Federation.
